Colt Python .357 Magnum revolver question?
Then you turn this weapon by removing a "striker", and thus make it a "Wall Display" instead of "weapon", if so, can this be easily repaired / fixed? If not, how would one temporarily not usable? (It means a film-prop, then do it again in a usable weapon). (I'm writing a novel, where it is a question and want authentic with this part.) Pathfinder – It is a novel, therefore I I do not ruin a good rifle. I just want accuracy! Thanks, X! Thanks Doc! Butterfly wings: the story is my know-how, the little tiny Itty Bitty about the weapon. That is why I am doing research what all good writers -!
Actually, the Python is fired by a frame mounted firing pin with a hammer beaten. All firearms are by a firing pin triggered when a person wants to pick nits. Some of the firing pin, like on older S & W revolvers Colt-style single-action Revolver, have the fire on the hammer and hit the primer through an opening in the frame, others, like new S & W revolvers, Colt revolver DA-mounted pole, and all semi-autos with exposed hammers have frame or slide mounted firing pin, the primers that are affected by the hammer and driven in. If you are firmly wedded to the idea of Colt Python in your novel, I suggest that you change it, a Smith & Wesson revolver, perhaps an older Registered .357 Magnum. The reason I say this is that the removal of a firing pin out of an old style S & W revolver is simple and straightforward. Simply drive a pin and remove the firing pin from the hammer. With Python, Removal of the firing pin requires mention a detail stripping the gun, and as before, the Python is handmade and practically handfitted. It is not a clumsy with nothing but a screwdriver be done hack, it takes a person trained and experienced with Python, and the same is doubly true for the replacement of the firing pin. I'm not a big fan of Python, so I can not claim intimate familiarity, but a guess, I would say that would take hours to remove the firing pin OR a more careful work and time it will replace as much or more. With a Smith & Wesson, the firing pin can be removed or replaced in a matter of Minutes by someone with the right tools and knowledge necessary. Doc
